Tundra Generation Coverage

SC400/SC404 generation coverage for Toyota Tundra

1st generation2000–2006Not confirmed — use fitment tool
2nd generation2007–2021Yes
3rd generation (new platform)2022–currentYes — verify on fitment tool for new platform

The 1st gen Tundra (2000–2006) predates the documented fitment range for SC400/SC404. If you have one of these trucks, use UnderCover's official fitment tool with your exact year and bed configuration before ordering.

Tundra Bed Lengths

The Tundra is available in multiple cab and bed configurations. SC400 and SC404 cover all standard bed lengths:

Tundra bed lengths by cab configuration — all use SC400/SC404

Double Cab6.5 ftSC400 / SC404

Critical Ordering Note: SC401 vs SC404

The most common ordering error for Tundra buyers is confusing SC401 with SC404 on the passenger side. Here is the breakdown:

SC400 / SC401 / SC404 — do not mix Tundra and Tacoma passenger codes
CodeFitsSideDoes NOT Fit
SC400Tundra 2007+ AND Tacoma 2005+Driver (left)—
SC404Tundra 2007+Passenger (right)Tacoma passenger
SC401Tacoma 2005+Passenger (right)Tundra passenger

SC400 is shared between Tundra and Tacoma on the driver side — this is the source of the confusion. Because the driver code is shared, buyers assume the passenger code is also shared. It is not. SC404 is Tundra passenger; SC401 is Tacoma passenger. They will not fit the opposite truck.

3rd Generation Tundra (2022+)

The 2022 Tundra introduced a new platform with a twin-turbo V6 powertrain, replacing the previous V8. The body and bed architecture changed with this generation. SC400/SC404 are confirmed for the 2022+ Tundra as of October 2026, but because new platform vehicles sometimes require updated codes, verify on UnderCover's fitment tool with your exact year and bed length before ordering.

Install Notes Specific to the Tundra

Spray-in bedliner

Many Tundra trims ship with or are dealer-fitted with spray-in bedliners (LINE-X, Rhino Liner). If the liner covers the bed rail cap surface — the horizontal top face of the inner rail wall — you must remove coating at each of the six screw locations before drilling. Use a rotary tool; remove only the area at each screw diameter. This is a permanent modification to the liner. Drop-in rubber mats do not cause this issue. Full detail at the SwingCase install guide.

Tonneau cover compatibility

SC400/SC404 are compatible with most soft and hard tonneau covers on the Tundra provided 3 inches of clearance exists between the SwingCase lid and the closed cover. BakFlip (MX4, F1, G2), Extang (Solid Fold, Trifecta), and soft roll-up covers are confirmed compatible. Retrax PowertraxONE on the 2022+ CrewMax 5.5 ft bed should be measured before ordering — tight fits have been reported on short-bed crew configurations with this cover.

Frequently Asked Questions

What SwingCase code fits a 2022 Tundra CrewMax?
SC400 (driver) and SC404 (passenger) are the confirmed codes for the 2022+ 3rd generation Tundra. The 2022 CrewMax has a 5.5 ft short bed — SC400/SC404 cover this configuration. Because 2022 introduced a new platform and powertrain, verify on UnderCover's fitment tool with your exact year and bed length before ordering. As of October 2026, SC400/SC404 is confirmed for 2022+ Tundra.
Is SC400 the correct code for both Tacoma and Tundra?
SC400 is the driver-side (left) code for both the Toyota Tacoma (2005+) and Tundra (2007+). UnderCover confirmed the bed rail geometry at the driver-side mounting position is compatible across both platforms. The passenger-side codes differ: Tacoma uses SC401, Tundra uses SC404. Do not order SC401 for a Tundra passenger side — it will not align correctly.
Does the SwingCase fit a Tundra TRD Pro or 1794 Edition?
Yes. TRD Pro, 1794 Edition, Platinum, and other Tundra trim levels do not modify the bed rail cap geometry. SC400 (driver) and SC404 (passenger) are the correct codes regardless of trim. The TRD Pro's suspension lift and skid plates are beneath the bed — they do not affect the rail cap mounting surface.
Does the SwingCase fit the 1st generation Tundra (2000–2006)?
The 1st gen Tundra (2000–2006) predates the documented SC400/SC404 fitment range. UnderCover's published coverage starts with the 2007 2nd generation. If you have a 2000–2006 Tundra, use UnderCover's fitment tool with your exact year and configuration — a compatible code may exist, but SC400/SC404 is not confirmed for this generation.
What is the difference between SC400 and SC404 for the Tundra?
SC400 is the driver-side (left-side when standing behind the truck) code. SC404 is the passenger-side (right-side) code. Both are required if you want storage on both sides of the Tundra bed. Driver and passenger codes are separate products with different mounting geometries — they are not interchangeable sides of the same unit.
Is the SwingCase compatible with a Tundra tonneau cover?
Yes, with most soft and hard tonneau covers provided at least 3 inches of clearance exists between the SwingCase lid and the closed cover. BakFlip (MX4, F1, G2), Extang (Solid Fold, Trifecta), and soft roll-up covers are confirmed compatible on the Tundra. Retrax PowertraxONE on the 2022+ CrewMax should be measured — tight fits have been reported on short-bed crew configurations.
