RAM 1500 Fitment Details
DT platform vs. RAM 1500 Classic (DS platform)
RAM produced two parallel RAM 1500 platforms simultaneously for nearly a decade. Understanding which platform you own is the first step before ordering:
| Platform | Model Years | SC Codes | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| DT (current RAM 1500) | 2019–current | SC300 / SC301 | Confirmed fitment. All cabs and bed lengths. |
| DS (RAM 1500 Classic) | 2013–2022 | Verify fitment tool | Rail geometry differs. Do not assume SC300/301 will align. |
The RAM 1500 Classic (DS platform) was sold from 2013 through 2022 as a lower-cost option alongside the newer DT RAM. The two trucks look similar but have different bed rail geometry. If you purchased a RAM 1500 before 2019, or after 2019 at a value trim price point, check your window sticker or VIN decoder to confirm which platform you have before ordering SC300/SC301.
Bed length coverage — RAM 1500 DT
On the DT platform, SC300 and SC301 cover all three cab and bed configurations:
| Cab Config | Bed Length | Correct Code |
|---|---|---|
| Regular Cab | 8 ft (long bed) | SC300 / SC301 |
| Quad Cab | 6'4" (standard bed) | SC300 / SC301 |
| Crew Cab | 5'7" (short bed) | SC300 / SC301 |
UnderCover uses a single code pair for the entire DT platform regardless of bed length. The bracket geometry is consistent across the DT rail profile; positioning flexibility decreases slightly on the shorter Crew Cab bed but the same code fits.
RAM 2500 / 3500 HD Fitment Details
The RAM Heavy Duty trucks (2500 and 3500) use a different chassis and bed rail platform from the 1500. SC302 (driver) and SC304 (passenger) cover most HD trucks from 2010 to current, but the HD lineup has more body style variation than the 1500.
RamBox Incompatibility
RamBox is a factory option on many RAM 1500 and HD trucks — it consists of lockable storage bins integrated into the bed side walls, with hinged lids that open outward along the top of the bed rail. This is not a liner or a mat — it is a structural modification to the rail cap itself.
The SwingCase bracket mounts to the top surface of the bed rail cap using six self-tapping screws. On a RamBox-equipped truck, that rail cap surface is occupied by the RamBox lid hinge mechanism and the weatherstripped bin opening. There is no flat, unobstructed surface available for the SwingCase bracket to mount against.
Jeep Gladiator Fitment
The Jeep Gladiator (2020–current) shares bed rail architecture with the RAM 1500 DT platform — the Gladiator's pickup bed was developed from the same underpinnings. As a result, SC300 (driver) and SC301 (passenger) are the confirmed codes for the Gladiator.
Gladiator-specific notes:
- The Gladiator has a shorter bed (5 ft) than most RAM 1500 configurations — confirm positioning clearance from the tailgate before drilling
- Gladiator Sport, Sport S, Willys, Rubicon, and Mojave all use the same bed rail geometry
- Verify your specific year on UnderCover's fitment tool before ordering — confirm SC300/SC301 for your model year
Install Notes Specific to RAM Trucks
Spray-in bedliner
Spray-in bedliners (LINE-X, Rhino Liner, dealer-applied coatings) are extremely common on RAM trucks, often applied at the dealer before delivery. If your liner covers the horizontal top face of the bed rail cap — the surface where the SwingCase bracket sits — you must remove the coating at each of the six screw locations before drilling. Use a rotary tool to clear each screw-diameter area. This is a permanent modification to the liner at those six points. Drop-in rubber bed mats do not cause this issue. Full detail at the SwingCase install guide.
Tonneau cover compatibility
The RAM is one of the most popular tonneau cover platforms. SC300/SC301 and SC302/SC304 are compatible with most soft and hard covers given at least 3 inches of clearance between the installed SwingCase and the closed tonneau. BakFlip (MX4, F1), Extang (Solid Fold, Trifecta), and most soft roll-up covers are confirmed compatible on the RAM. Retrax covers on the RAM Crew Cab short bed should be measured before ordering — that configuration can be tight depending on bracket placement.
Tailgate clearance — RAM Crew Cab short bed
On the RAM Crew Cab with its 5'7" bed, position the rear mounting screw at least 6 inches from the inside face of the closed tailgate to ensure full 180° swing clearance. Less bed length means less positioning margin — take measurements before drilling.
