TruckBedForge is an independent truck bed storage review site. We research swing-out toolboxes, crossover boxes, drawer systems and wheel-well storage — then rank them honestly by 3-year value: unit cost per year, install complexity, durability data, and what owners actually report after months of use.
Who Runs This Site
Cole Briggs is the founder and editor of TruckBedForge. Cole has owned full-size and mid-size trucks for over a decade and started this site after spending too long sifting through manufacturer marketing pages and Amazon listings that all said the same thing. The goal: one site that gives you the honest numbers, honest cons, and the right answer for your specific truck and use case.
How We Review
We do not fake hands-on testing. We research and aggregate:
- Verified owner ratings from attributed sources (e.g. throtl — 212 verified SwingCase ratings)
- Forum install reports from TacomaWorld, F150Forum, TRD, RamForum and similar communities
- Manufacturer specifications, verified against multiple retailer listings
- Return and complaint data where publicly available
We attribute every data point to its source. If a spec is manufacturer-claimed only, we say so. If we found no independent verification, we say that too.
Our Ranking Model
We rank by 3-year total ownership value — unit cost per year plus installation cost, replacement parts, and what you give up (bed space, tonneau compatibility, tie-down access). This framing is more useful than sticker price because the cheapest unit is rarely the cheapest over three years, and the most expensive unit is sometimes the right one when the daily utility justifies it.
Review Score Methodology
Scores are expressed on a 0–10 scale and are composite assessments across five criteria:
- Install simplicity — tool count, time, reversibility, drilling required
- Capacity for stated use case — volume, weight limit, access speed
- Durability evidence — material quality, warranty, owner longevity reports
- Value over 3 years — unit cost ÷ realistic lifespan vs alternatives at same price point
- Fit for most users — how well the product serves its core audience, penalising niche limitations
Scores reflect independent research. No manufacturer provided payment or review copies in exchange for scores. An 8.2/10 for the SwingCase reflects strong install simplicity and access convenience, reduced by ABS plastic construction (security) and a 1-year warranty versus lifetime on steel competitors.
